Abstract
A sustainable materials research initiative converting rice husk and sugarcane bagasse into commercially viable biodegradable packaging alternatives to single-use plastics.
Research Methodology
Laboratory synthesis followed by industrial-scale prototyping with three packaging manufacturers. Life cycle assessment conducted comparing environmental impact against conventional plastics.
Key Findings
- Material degrades completely within 90 days in composting conditions
- Production cost competitive with petroleum-based alternatives at scale
- Two industry MOUs signed for pilot manufacturing
